Punk 2317 was purchased on July 12, 2021 for 18.93 Eth by ROBNESS and then immediately burned as performance art piece titled HOW TO BURN A CRYPTOPUNK AND NOT FEEL A THING.......A TUTORIAL for his recurring #trashday event. As part of this performance piece, he made a video of himself burning the punk and sold it an edition of 600 on the Tezos Blockchain, using the funds from the sale of these editions to recoup the cost of the initial Cryptopunk purchase. This was announced on Twitter.

Fun trivia: Obits, a skeletal themed cryptopunk derivative project, was inspired directly by this burn event. There are 7132 pieces in that collection as a direct (reversed) reference to Punk 2317.
